Dr. Jimmy Gardiner at Singing River Dentistry

Dr. Jimmy Gardiner

Russellville, Tuscumbia

Dr. Jimmy Gardiner has always enjoyed calling the Shoals, AL, area home. Born and raised in Tuscumbia, AL, Dr. Gardiner is fulfilling his lifelong dream of serving the people of Northwest Alabama. Dr. Gardiner finished his undergraduate studies at Birmingham Southern in 1987 with an emphasis in chemistry and history. He graduated from the University of Alabama Birmingham School of Dentistry in 1992 and immediately opened his private practice in downtown Tuscumbia.

In 2001, the office relocated to 121 East 6th Street. "This move has allowed our office to reach its full potential," said Dr. Gardiner.

Dr. Gardiner is a member of the ADA and is committed to at least 60 hours yearly of continuing education. He has always been passionate about life and eager to take on new challenges. In 2011, he was inspired to embrace the changing face of dentistry and renewed his commitment to continuing education by studying research on the direct link between oral health and systemic health. Keeping our practice at the forefront of new dental technology enables our team to better assist with our patients' overall health.

Dr. Gardiner keeps up-to-date on the frequent changes in health care by attending continuing education classes and reading impressive amounts of material on the latest dental techniques. Dr. Gardiner has consistently invested in advancements in dental technology, such as digital radiography and the 1-day crown E4D system. This year Dr. Gardiner also became a member of the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine, which is dedicated to the role of dentistry in the management of sleep disordered breathing.

Dr. Gardiner enjoys people and taking care of patients' needs. He also loves educating and motivating our team members and patients to be their very best.

Dr. Gardiner and his wife, Nan, have two children, J. and Ryan Leigh. They enjoy spending time together on their farm and other outdoor activities. They especially look forward to hosting the annual Saddle-up for St. Jude event in Tuscumbia, which has raised over 2 million dollars for St. Jude's Children Hospital.

Dr. Gardiner and Nan can also be seen on Friday nights in the Fall in the press box at Deshler Stadium, as Dr. Gardiner becomes the voice of the Deshler Tigers.

Dr. James L. Maples at Singing River Dentistry

Dr. James L. Maples united with Singing River Dentistry in 2014, joining his lifelong friend Dr. Jimmy Gardiner, to provide quality dental care for people in the Shoals, AL, area with extended hours and quality dental care.

Dr. Maples graduated from Deshler High School, Tuscumbia, AL, and continued his education at the University of North Alabama in Florence, Alabama. He received his Doctor of Dental Medicine Degree in 1991 from UAB School of Dentistry. From there, he came back to the Shoals, AL, and began practicing with Dr. Rivers Lindsey in Florence, AL. Dr. Maples has been practicing in the area for 30 years.

He continued his practice after Dr. Lindsey retired and remained until he became part of the Singing River Dentistry Team. He has always enjoyed being a family dentist working with patients of all ages. When he is with a patient, he strives to help them achieve overall health in a pleasant environment.

Dr. Maples strives to stay up-to-date on the latest dental technologies and techniques by participating in at least 20 hours of continuing education each year. He was recognized as the Times Daily Shoals Favorite Dentist.

Dr. Maples has always been active in his community. He grew up attending Tuscumbia First United Methodist Church, where he served as youth minister for five years. He now enjoys teaching the "Character Builders" men's Sunday school class.

Dr. Maples also stays active at his alma mater, Deshler High School where he played on the Deshler Football team and now serves as the team chaplain. He also enjoys working with Dr. Gardiner on the radio broadcast of Deshler Tiger Football.

Dr. Maples has been married to his high school sweetheart, Mashea Holden Maples, for over 30 years. Together, they have three children, Jessica, Lauren and Tanner. Jessica and her husband Nick have a daughter, Harper. Their daughter Lauren and her husband Casey have two sons, Carter and Sadler.

In his spare time, Dr. Maples enjoys fishing and doing yard work. On occasion at church or local events, the audience is always blessed when Dr. Maples and his wife sing duets.

Dr. Bobby Moore at Singing River Dentistry

Dr. Bobby Moore is from Sheffield, Alabama. He completed his undergraduate degrees from Sheffield High School in 1969 and his degree in engineering from Auburn University in 1974. He went on to attend dental school at the University of Alabama Birmingham where he graduated with honors in 1978.

He is married to Patricia and has four grown children: Kevin, Suzanne, Stacy, and Brittne. Four grandchildren: Braxton, Jackson, Sam, and Emma, and one great grandson: Walker.

After being in private practice for 37 years, he consolidated his family of patients with Singing River Dentistry in 2015.
Dr. Moore prides himself in attending many extra continuing education courses to stay up to date with all areas of dentistry. He graduated from the L.D. Pankey Institute for Advanced Education and two mini residencies in San Francisco in Implants and Endodontics in 2018. In 2019, he completed a maxi residency in Surgical Implants at LSU.

Dr. Moore has served in organized dentistry in the Alabama Dental Association, UAB Alumni Association, and the Academy of General Dentistry. He has served on the board of directors for the Alabama Academy of General Dentistry for 25 years and was president during 2012-2013.

His continued education has led him to receive the awards of MAGD (Master of General Dentistry), the FICOI (Fellowship of International Congress of Implantology) and the LLSR (Lifelong Learning and Service Recognition).

Local, national, and international missions are his passion. He has served on 27 international teams providing dental care in South Africa, Honduras, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Haiti, Guatemala, and The Dominican Republic. Locally, he and his wife Patricia serve at First Baptist Church Colbert Heights. He also leads a Saturday Bible class at Helen Keller Hospital.

Dr. Moore loves his patients and strives to provide the most up to date care as possible.

Dr. Brittany Westerman at Singing River Dentistry

Dr. Brittany Westerman specializes in advanced cosmetic dentistry, headache/migraine and TMJ pain treatment, implant dentistry, and therapeutic and esthetic applications of BOTOX® (Botulinum Neurotoxin). She is a member of the American Dental Association, the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, the Academy of General Dentistry, and the Academy of Laser Dentistry. She regularly attends continuing education courses whenever she has a chance, so she can deliver the most up-to-date techniques and the latest technology to her patients. She is trained and competent in cosmetic dentistry, implant dentistry, endodontics, pedodontics, periodontics, restorative dentistry, and prosthodontics.

Dr. Westerman's goal as a dentist is to make all of her patients feel like family from the moment they walk in the door, until they leave the office. She has a true passion for renovating smiles and loves to help her patients improve and fall in love with their smiles. Dr. Westerman actually decided she wanted to become a dentist at age 15 after her childhood dentist fixed her own smile. She immediately noticed her improved smile dramatically changed her life by improving her overall confidence in herself. She hopes that she too can impact her patients in the same way.

Dr. Westerman was born in Opelika, Alabama, lived in Jasper, Alabama, for the majority of her childhood, then at the age of 15, her family moved to Dawsonville, Georgia. She is one of four daughters to Thad and Barbara Burgess. She and all three of her sisters attended the University of Georgia. She received her undergraduate degree in biological sciences with a pre-dental focus. After graduating from UGA, she completed a year of service through AmeriCorps, where she was mentor to eighth grade
students at risk of dropping out in an inner-city school in Los Angeles, California. She then completed dental school at the Dental College of Georgia. She chose to complete additional training after dental school and gained an Advanced Education in General Dentistry Residency degree at the Birmingham VA Hospital and University of Alabama in Birmingham.

Dr. Westerman married her husband, Jannie, in January 2016 and they welcomed their daughter, Holt, into the world in 2020. They are excited to make the Shoals area their forever home. When Dr. Westerman is not at work, she enjoys watching Georgia Bulldogs football, volunteering at the Shoals Community Center extracting teeth, participating as a board member in Junior League of the Shoals, and of course spoiling her daughter and fur babies.

Dr. Joshua McClanahan at Singing River Dentistry

Dr. Joshua McClanahan was born and raised in the Shoals area. He graduated from Muscle Shoals High School in 2007. Afterwards, he attended the University of Alabama-Birmingham and graduated in 2012 with a Bachelor of Science in biology and minors in chemistry and finance. Dr. McClanahan then attended the University of Alabama-Birmingham School of Dentistry and graduated with a Doctor of Dental Medicine degree in 2016.

Dr. Joshua McClanahan has been serving the Shoals area since the summer of 2016. He is the grandson of Dr. James D. Ashmore, who served the Shoals area for 52 years as a Family Medicine Physician in Muscle Shoals.

As a dentist, Dr. McClanahan strives to serve his patients to the best of his ability by improving their oral health and total health. He wants to treat people as family and in a way that represents his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. To help him accomplish these goals, Dr. McClanahan was a member of the American Student Dental Association while he was a student. Today, he holds memberships in the American Dental Association and Academy of General Dentistry. Every year, he completes a minimum of 20 hours of continuing education. He also spends time weekly reading and learning about the advances in dentistry. Dr. McClanahan is also trained in Perio Protect.

Dr. McClanahan has enjoyed being a part of 4 short-term dental mission trips while in dental school in Honduras and Guatemala, as well as 6 mission trips in high school and college as a chaperone for the youth. He currently attends Ransomed Community Church in Florence, Al.

Dr. McClanahan married his wife, Dr. Victoria Vining, in May 2018. She is also one of our dentists at SRD. In his free time, he enjoys being outdoors, playing sports, and turkey hunting. Dr. McClanahan is excited to learn new skills, develop as a dentist, provide for his patients, and be a part of the Singing River Dentistry family!

Dr. Whitney Flippo at Singing River Dentistry

Dr. Whitney Flippo was born and raised in Florence, AL where she attended Wilson High School. She continued her education at the University of North Alabama and she received a Bachelor's degree with honors in Biology and minors in Chemistry and Spanish in 2012. Dr. Flippo earned her Doctorate of Dental Medicine degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Dentistry in 2018.

Dr. Flippo is a member of the American Dental Association, Alabama Dental Association and Academy of General Dentistry. She regularly attends continuing education courses to stay on the forefront of the newest advances and techniques in dentistry to better serve her patients.

Dr. Flippo's love for dentistry began on a short-term mission trip during college. It was at this time she realized dentistry was an opportunity to serve those who need it most, whether they where abroad or in her own backyard. Dr. Flippo's top priority is to create a welcoming environment for each and every patient and make sure they leave loving their healthy smile.

Dr. Flippo is married to her husband, Joe, who is a police officer for the city of Florence. They welcomed their first child, Annie, in December 2019. In their free time, Dr. Flippo and her family enjoy spending time outside with their 2 dogs and traveling to their favorite places, the beach and Disney World.

Dr. Victoria McClanahan at Singing River Dentistry

Dr. Victoria McClanahan joined our Singing River Dentistry team in July 2018. She graduated from the University of Alabama (Roll Tide), where she received her Bachelors of Science degree in chemistry in 2014. She then completed her Doctorate of Dental Medicine in 2018 from the University of Alabama School of Dentistry.

As a dentist, Dr. V McClanahan strives to work alongside her patients, helping them achieve excellent, long-term oral health in a comfortable and friendly environment. She loves treating children and teenagers. She is a provider for Six Month Smiles and loves helping improve smiles through this program!

She is passionate about serving the Lord. Her favorite Bible verse is Romans 8:38-39. In dental school, she was a member of the CMMA (Christian Medical Missions of Alabama) and has been to Honduras, Guatemala, and the Dominican Republic for mission trips. In 2015, on one of these trips she met Dr. Josh McClanahan. They were married in May 2018. Together, they have 3 doggies (Honey, Trooper, and Marty)! In her spare time she loves painting, reading and all kinds of arts and crafts. She is from Helena, Alabama, where her family still lives! She loves Disney and animals, especially Dachshunds!

Dr. Mark Love at Singing River Dentistry

Dr. Mark Love received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Alabama prior to attending the University of Alabama School of Dentistry, from which he graduated in 1984. He has practiced dentistry for over 35 years and completes a minimum of 20 hours of continuing education courses each year to stay at the forefront of the dental field. Dr. Love is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Dental Association®, the Academy of General Dentistry, and the Tri-County Dental Society.

As a dentist, he is committed to providing the most appropriate treatment for each person he meets, treating them as they would want to be treated, and performing each procedure to the highest standard possible. Dr. Love is dedicated to providing quality care that produces excellent long-term results.

Dr. Love has two children.

Dr. Lindsey Rodriguezat Singing River Dentistry

Dr. Lindsey Rodriguez is originally from Titusville, Fl but moved to Athens, AL when she was 16. She graduated from UAH in 2012 and attended dental school at UAB. After finishing dental school in 2016, she worked for 2 years at HEALS, Inc in Huntsville and Sarrell Dental in Athens. During that time she developed a passion for treating children and decided to return to UAB to complete a pediatric dental residency. She and her husband Nathan, a software developer, currently reside in Madison. She is excited to care for children here at SRD on 5th!

"I am native of Muscle Shoals, AL. I have returned back to North Alabama to serve and join the team that offers the highest caliber of dental care in the area. It is a joy to be back in the place I call home. I have one sister who lives in New York with my brother-in-law and niece. I graduated from Auburn University in 2016 with a B.S. in Biomedical Sciences with honors and a minor in Spanish. I then attended UAB School of Dentistry, where I graduated in 2020 with my degree in dental medicine. I have spent many years abroad in medical missions (including dominican republic, costa rica, and Guatemala), and I hope to use my skill and knowledge to serve underserved populations in the future. I am a member of the American Student Dental Association, American Dental Association, Alabama Dental Association, and American Academy of General Dentistry. My goal is to provide a fun and inviting atmosphere with my team, for all ages, from the second you park to the moment we complete your treatment. I am here to provide a great experience at the dentist as well as healthy smiles for a lifetime!"
